Invite Comments To Your News Blog Using The Haloscan Online Service

Add Haloscan commenting code to your Easy Blogs template and invite comments to your dedicated news blog.

Note: Haloscan service is no longer available. Please see the new "Echo" replacement.

So, let's begin.....

Step 1. Go to http://www.haloscan.com/members/join.php and create a free account.

Note: You start with the free account but have the option to upgrade with a "donation" of $12.00 once you are registered. My suggestion to you is to upgrade and get rid of the advertising that comes with the free account. Plus, you will get some nice extra features that prove useful when offering comments to your blog entries.

 register your Haloscan account

Note: You can use your blog Home page as I did in this sample below:

Step 2. Now, log into your account.

Step 3. As soon as you log in, you are taken to the page to pick up your code. Deselect the radio button by Blogger and select the button that says, "None of the Above / Manual."

Also, deselect the box saying, "Display trackback code."

Step 16.  You can place a test entry in the browser even before you put the revisions on your SBI site. (Don't worry. You can always delete your test entries by logging into your account.)

Step 17. Re-Publish and Generate your News Blog pages and re-upload the Home Page and all other pages for this month to your SBI site.

Step 18. Open your SiteBuildIt website in a browser and check to see that the comment link is there after each entry.

Step 19.  Enter a test entry or two. You'll see how this all works and be delighted that people can now leave comments to your entries and others can read them!

ATTENTION
All template modifications require that you:

a) re-publish, re-generate your pages in the blog software
b) re-upload ALL pages of your blog to your SBI site.

Be sure to do this after you complete the steps of this tutorial.

That wraps up this SBI Rss Tutorial. To get the full tutorial look here.
